If you find yourself in Southern Florida, either as a permanent resident or as a visitor, clear your calendar on a Thursday afternoon and head to the University of Miami's Lowe Art Museum in Coral Gables.
The Lowe is the only area museum which owns a distinguished collection of Egyptian, Greek, and Roman antiquities. This collection is a vital thread in understanding the development of Western Art and is also utilized by University of Miami and area art history and history courses.
On the first Thursday of each month, happy hour at the Lowe Art Museum gives art aficionados a chance to take in some art while enjoying cocktails by Bacardi, live jazz, light bites and a guided tour of the current exhibition. Free admission doesn't hurt either. Recommended drink: Anything Bacardi.
Hours: 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday; noon-7 p.m. Thursday; and noon-5 p.m. Sunday Bar Happy Hour: First Thursday of each month
