Fragments of Time is pleased to announce availability of its latest catalog, Art from the Ancient World XXXV. The catalog features more than 60 fine ancient artifacts ranging in date from 3000 BC to 500 AD.
"Our spring 2005 catalog highlights many fine new acquisitions as well as some remarkable objects from our vast inventory," said founder and director John Ambrose. "Every collector of ancient art needs to be diligent about quality and provenance. Our latest catalog delivers on both counts."
The cover of catalog XXXV features the "Mildenberg Horse Head," a remarkable Greek terracotta from the ancient Tarentine workshops of Southern Italy. The object has been published in the 1981 book Animals in Ancient art from the Leo Mildenberg Collection. Mildenberg, renowned for his extensive collection of animal figures in ancient art, was extremely fond of this terracotta horse head because it so closely parallels the horse head from the Athenian Parthenon now in the British Museum (see photo).
"The Mildenberg Horse Head" is a masterful and historic work of art," said Ambrose. "we are proud to be offering it along with a variety of fine objects including several others from the Mildenberg collection."
