Rare Ancient Gold Ring Discovered in York, England

A very large, 325-gram arm ring of nearly pure gold found in York has been declared treasure trove and turned over the British Museum for study.

The arm ring is thought to be Viking, and one of only two known to be discovered in Britain. It belonged to a recently deceased York builder and was brought to archaeologists by the man's family.

Mummies Escape from Vault in Ohio

Egyptian art fans get a rare treat from September 12 thru January 2, 2005, at the Toledo Museum of Art. A new exhibition there called "The Unseen Art of TMA: What's in the Vaults and Why?" will feature 100 objects from down under. Included will be the museums two ancient Egyptian mummies which have not been seen in public for more than 30 years!
